- Conduct in vitro experiments to characterize the biochemical activity of a set of proteins regulating the assembly of actin filaments;
- Write reports and technical notes on protein production and purification;
Skills
- Master’s degree in Biology or Physics;
- General knowledge of protein biochemistry and of the cytoskeleton;
- Good experimental practices;
- Fluency in English (B1 level required);
- Knowledge of molecular biology is a plus:
- Rigor, organization, autonomy in planning and managing experiments, analytical and scientific reasoning skills, dynamism, good interpersonal skills, ability to work as part of a team.
Work Context
The Institut Jacques Monod (IJM) (https://www.ijm.fr/), a CNRS/Université Paris Cité joint research unit, brings together around 300 people and is one of the leading centers for fundamental biology research in Paris. The host team (www.actindynamics.net) focuses its research efforts on deciphering the dynamics of the cytoskeleton (actin and intermediate filaments). The IJM is located on the Université Paris Cité campus in the Paris-Rive Gauche business park (13th arrondissement of Paris; accessible by all means of transport: Metro 14, RER C, Tramway T3, buses 62 and 89).
Additional Information
The contract is a 9-month fixed-term contract, with the possibility of an extension depending on the assignment. A Master degree in Biology or Physics is required. Applications should be submitted via this interface, and should include a CV and covering letter summarizing the candidate’s interests in the position, and the contact details of two scientists or teachers who could provide a recommendation.
