Invited by the Wassmann lab, Julie Welburn (Wellcome Trust Centre for Cell Biology, University of Edinburgh) will present an IJM seminar, on December 20th at 11 am, on the theme:
Mitotic motor multitasking from chromosome alignment to central spindle stability
Julie’s group studies the molecular transport mechanisms underlying cell division and organisation. She is studying how the motor activities of kinesins cooperate to control bipolar spindle formation and chromosome alignment and segregation during mitosis. Recent work describes the cooperative Kif18b-MCAK-EB network that acts to efficiently shorten and regulate microtubules during mitosis.
