Missions
The new recruit will join the “Mechanism of meiosis” team at the Institut Jacques Monod, and will be responsible for developing molecular biology, cell biology and mass spectrometry techniques in mouse oocytes and Saccharomyces cerevisiae yeast, in order to advance the team’s research themes.
Activities
- Construction of molecular biology tools.
- Culture and microinjection of mouse oocytes.
- Development and fine-tuning of new techniques for preparing protein and phosphoprotein samples for analysis by mass spectrometry.
- Bioinformatics data analysis.
- Takes the initiative in managing the laboratory and solving technical problems.
Skills
- Master 2 in Biology or Bioinformatics with at least 2 years’ experience.
- Proficiency in standard molecular biology techniques (PCR, cloning, RNA preparation), biochemistry (kinase assays, immunoprecipitation, western-blot) and microscopy (immunofluorescence, video-microscopy). Experience of laboratory work, particularly in connection with mass spectrometry or omics data analysis, will be appreciated.
- Previous knowledge of mouse and yeast models is not essential.
- Proficiency in data collection and processing tools (in particular Excel, Prism and Image J).
- Full working knowledge of English is essential (C1).
- Proactivity, rigor, perseverance, reliability and ability to work as part of a team.
Work context
The host team is interested in the mechanisms of cell division during meiosis, particularly in yeast and in the mouse oocyte. It currently comprises 3 PhD students, a postdoctoral fellow, an engineering assistant, 3 researchers and a team leader. Bachelor’s and Master’s students join us throughout the year.
Our work is carried out within the Institut Jacques Monod, a CNRS – Université Paris Cité joint research unit with a staff of around 250. The Institut Jacques Monod is part of CNRS Biologie, and is housed in a recent University building on the Paris Rive Gauche campus in the 13th arrondissement of Paris, accessible by all means of transport (Metro 14, RER C, Tramway T3, buses 62 and 89…).
