Missions

The project aims at understanding how transposable elements are controlled in the unicellular eukaryote Paramecium using computational approaches.

Activities

  • Development of computational methods
  • Analysis of omics data (RNAseq, ChIPseq, genomic DNA-seq, etc.)
  • Written and oral presentation of results
  • Ensuring traceability and reliability of results
  • Collaboration with biochemistry and molecular biology researchers in the laboratory and surrounding area

Skills

  • Proficiency in computer languages (bash, python, awk, R)
  • NGS/omics data analysis
  • Statistics for high-throughput data analysis
  • Generation of figures from high-throughput data
  • Pipeline development
  • Rigor, autonomy, dynamism, ability to work as part of a team
  • Excellent command of spoken and written English essential

Work Context

The new recruit will join the Programmed Genome Removal team at the Institut Jacques Monod in Paris. The Institut Jacques Monod (IJM), a joint CNRS/Université Paris Cité research unit, brings together around 300 people and is one of the leading centers for fundamental biological research in the Paris region. The host team (https://www.ijm.fr/research-topics/duharcourt-lab-va/?lang=en) is particularly interested in genome dynamics in Paramecium.
The IJM is located on the Université Paris Cité campus in the Paris-Rive Gauche business park (13th arrondissement of Paris; accessible by all means of transport: Metro 14, RER C, Tramway T3, buses 62 and 89).
